Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) could provide an acoustic surveillance system and related equipment to the Australian government through a $207 million foreign military sale request approved by the State Department.
Australia has asked to buy Surveillance Towed Array Sensor System Expeditionary mission systems for Vessels of Opportunity and associated technology products, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Thursday.
The proposed deal includes training, publications, engineering, technical, logistics and program support services.
DCSA noted Australia intends to provide military commands the sonar system to perform acoustic wide area surveillance and warning operations for maritime defense.
The foreign buyer will seek the temporary deployment of contractor and government representatives for program technical oversight and reviews as part of the proposed sale.
