State Department OKs $14B Boeing F-15 Aircraft Sale to Indonesia

The State Department has approved a potential sale to Indonesia of F-15 fighter aircraft built by Boeing (NYSE: BA) and associated equipment through an estimated $13.9 billion government-to-government agreement with the U.S.

Indonesia’s foreign military sales request includes 36 F-15ID jets, 87 F110-GE-129 or F100-PW-229 engines, 92 embedded GPS security devices and 40 M61A Vulcan gun systems, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Thursday.

DSCA added that the Southeast Asian country wants to buy training pods, countermeasures dispensers, simple key loaders, digital computers, air combat maneuvering instrumentation, repair services, software support, facility management, logistics and other forms of programmatic support.

Twenty representatives from the U.S. government and company will be required to perform technical and training support work in Indonesia if the transaction is implemented.
