The State Department has approved a potential $1.32 billion foreign military sale of shipboard launch and recovery equipment and support services to France for the country’s naval aircraft carrier program.
The French government wants to procure one Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System, one Advanced Arresting Gear, launcher and engine configurations, and testing and shipboard spares, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Tuesday.
The FMS request also includes technical documentation and assistance, installation, training, certification, program and logistical support.
About 40 representatives from the U.S. government and principal contracting companies will travel to France to support post-sale activities over 10 weeks each year between 2033 and 2038.
