The Department of State approved a proposed $2 billion sale of devices, equipment and other services to support a training program under the Australia-United Kingdom-United States, or AUKUS, trilateral security alliance for the Indo-Pacific region.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced Friday that the foreign military sale to the Australian government will be fulfilled by primary contractors HII (NYSE: HII), General Dynamics’ (NYSE: GD) Electric Boat company and Systems Planning & Analysis.
The contract for the AUKUS Pillar I program includes training products and services as well as resources for non-recurring engineering, software, supply chain and logistics. It will also supply the Royal Australian Navy with ship and submarine navigation, communication and control capabilities.
The United States agreed to train private Australian industry personnel, which is subject to approval by the State Department.
