“Having developed creative ways to scale operations and deliver outsized value through technology at the world’s largest employer, the Department of Defense, I look forward to contributing to SOSi’s mission to do the same across its government and commercial business portfolio,” Dunlap said in a statement released Monday.
He intends to partner with SOSi CEO Julian Setian and Chief Technology Officer Kyle Fox as the company aims to expand its technology and service offerings.
Dunlap was the first CTO and chief architect of the Air Force and Space Force. In that position, he managed the technology, engineering and architecture of more than $70 billion in programs for the two service branches that make up DAF, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He previously served on the Defense Science Board and the advisory board of the DOD’s Joint Artificial Intelligence Center.
Outside the government, Dunlap gained knowledge in information technology through his work as a software architect at Tobek Technical Services and as co-founder and engineer at NeoSpire.
He also became a board member of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Seminar XXI, an executive of the National Security Department and an executive board member of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.
In May 2022, he founded Arkenstone Ventures, a firm specializing in private equity, global strategy and IT support.
