Lockheed Martin™s (NYSE: LMT) Sikorsky subsidiary has introduced a helicopter prototype for the U.S. Army™s Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft program.
RAIDER X is a compound coaxial aircraft under Skiorsky™s X2 product line and designed to operate at a speed of more than 250 knots at an altitude of beyond 9K feet, Lockheed said Monday.
The concept is intended to support low- and high-speed maneuvers and will include an open-architecture avionics technology with plug-and-play features to support sensors, weapons and computing systems.
According to Lockheed, the aircraft will also employ predictive maintenance and self-monitoring tools.
Sikorsky President Dan Schultz said RAIDER X is the result of decades of development and reflects the commitment of the helicopter manufacturer to help the Army perform missions.
