Sikorsky to Maintain Army Helicopter Rotor System Under $117M Contract

Lockheed Martin‘s (NYSE: LMT) Sikorsky subsidiary will maintain and overhaul the main rotor blade of Black Hawk helicopters for the U.S. Army under a five-year, $116.5 million contract.

Army Contracting Command received one bid for the firm-fixed-price contract and will determine work locations and funds upon issuance of each order, the Department of Defense said Monday.

The Black Hawk is designed to transport up to 11 fully equipped infantry squad members and supports military operations including cargo lift, combat assault, armed warfare, medical and evacuation, aerial firefighting, search and rescue, special operations and transport.

According to Lockheed, the utility helicopter’s advanced weapon system works to help pilots identify and engage targets.
