Lockheed Martin‘s (NYSE: LMT) Sikorsky subsidiary has received a potential $304 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy for the low-rate initial production of lot 1 CH-53K heavy-lift helicopters.
The Defense Departmentsaid Thursday that Sikorsky will build two CH-53K units as well as provide aircraft, programmatic and logistics support, peculiar support equipment and spare parts.
Production will occur at Sikorsky’s facility in Stratford, Connecticut, through December 2021.
DoD granted Lockheed a Milestone C approval for the CH-53K program in April.
The Naval Air Systems Command obligated the full modification amount from the service branch’s fiscal 2017 aircraft procurement funds at the time of award.
