Lockheed Martin‘s (NYSE: LMT) Sikorsky subsidiary has received a $126.5 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to obtain long lead materials for the low-rate initial production of seven CH-53K King Stallion helicopters.
Sikorsky will procure the items needed to manufacture the third batch of CH-53K aircraft through the modified contract, the Defense Departmentsaid Tuesday.
The Navy will obligate the full entire modification amount from the service branch’s fiscal 2018 aircraft procurement funds.
Work will take place in Stratford, Connecticut, through January 2019.
Sikorsky designed its CH-53K heavy-lift helicopters to help U.S. and international military customers move equipment and personnel from ship to shore or high-altitude terrain.
