SealingTech Buys Quark Security to Expand Federal Cybersecurity, Cloud Portfolio

Cyber engineering company Sealing Technologies has acquired Columbia, Md.-based firm Quark Security in an effort to combine both companies’ resources, networks and expertise in the cloud computing and cyber defense markets.

SealingTech said Friday it officiated Quark's acquisition in December and plans to leverage the latter's experience in cybersecurity and information assurance to drive efforts with the open-source community and federal sector.

As part of the agreement, Quark’s cofounder and CEO Brandon Whalen will serve as SealingTech’s new chief operating officer.

Quark’s business management, sales, integration and engineering teams will also be added to SealingTech in line with the acquisition, according to the latter.

Established in 2013, Quark is a small business that offers a security tool called Quark Security Shield currently used in Defense Information Systems Agency-provided classified devices.

SealingTech, also headquartered in Columbia, is a veteran-owned small business that offers a range of cybersecurity hardware, software and services including implementation and research and development support.

The company holds a Capability Maturity Model Integration Dev Maturity Level 3 certification as well as a Top Secret Facility Clearance under the Department of Defense.
