Peraton Names Salim Omar as CFO

  • Salim Omar has moved from acting to permanent chief financial officer of Peraton
  • Omar served financial leadership roles in companies, including Perspecta and MANTECH
  • He became acting CFO this year following the resignation of Peraton CFO Ken Sharp

Peraton announced Wednesday that acting Chief Financial Officer Salim Omar has been permanently appointed to the role.

“During his time at Peraton, Salim has helped accelerate our momentum and further position the company to drive growth, elevate performance and deliver superior mission impact for our customers,” said Steve Schorer, chairman and CEO of Peraton and a four-time Wash100 Award winner. “I am confident that, in his new role, Salim will reinforce the financial rigor and strategic clarity that our investors and partners expect.”

What Professional Experience Does Salim Omar Bring to the CFO Role?

Since May 2021, Omar’s official position at Peraton has been senior vice president of corporate and sector finance. Prior to that, he worked for three years at Perspecta as vice president of corporate finance, and served a similar role at Vencore before it was merged with DXC Technology’s U.S. public sector business and KeyPoint Government Solutions in 2018 to form Perspecta.

Omar spent almost six years at MANTECH as director of corporate finance, transferring from SAIC in 2010, where he was an operations controller. He began his career at the Federal Reserve Board, where he gained early experience in financial analysis and government contracting.

What Brought Salim Omar to Peraton’s CFO Post?

Omar was designated as acting CFO after executive vice president and CFO Ken Sharp left the company in March to join L3Harris Technologies. Sharp accepted the new role of senior vice president and CFO at L3Harris, replacing Ken Bedingfield. Peraton made other executive changes, including the appointment of Bob Genter as president and chief operating officer, and former U.S. Army Under Secretary Gabe Camarillo as defense sector president.
