Salas O’Brien Targets Federal Market Through Nelson Engineering Merger

Salas O’Brien, an engineering and facility planning services provider, has merged with Nelson Engineering to create a combined company that will serve federal clients and represent more than 50 offices.

The merger brings the combined entity’s workforce headcount to 1,500, including 360 registered professionals, and aims to provide multi-disciplinary engineering services to the federal sector, Salas O’Brien said.

The new team will continue to work on government projects such as the expansion of NASA’s Ammonia Vapor Containment Facility and the assessment of the National Institutes of Health’s Central Utility Plant and Cogeneration Plant in Bethesda, Maryland.

The transaction, which was completed April 15, represents the third merger for Salas O’Brien this year in an effort to expand its federal engineering services team. In February, the company acquired Louisiana-based Craig Hebert Engineering.
