Rolls-Roycehas received a potential $115.1 million contract to produce a total of 56 engines for V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft of the U.S. Marine Corps and Japan.
The company will manufacture 36 AE1107C production engines for USMC and another 20 production and spare engines for the government of Japan, the Defense Departmentsaid Thursday.
Work will occur at a Rolls-Royce facility in Indiana through November 2018.
The U.S. Navy obligated the full contract amount at the time of award from the service brance’s fiscal 2017 aircraft procurement funds along with foreign military sales funds.
V-22 is a joint service multimission aircraft platform and manufactured by Bell–Boeing.
