Rolls-Royce Gets $197M Contract Option to Maintain Navy Jet Trainer Engine, Gas Turbine Starter

Rolls-Royce has been awarded a one-year, $197M contract option to maintain F405-RR-401 engines and 096 MKII gas turbine starters used by the U.S. Navy’s T-45 Goshawk trainer aircraft fleet.

The company will support maintenance of the jet trainer power components at the intermediate and depot levels and provide engineering and logistics services under the exercised option, the Department of Defense said Thursday.

Work will take place in Texas, Mississippi, Maryland and Florida through September 2021.

The Rolls-Royce F405 engine, also known as Adour, is designed to generate up to 8K pounds of thrust and has logged more than 8M flight hours with various military aircraft types to date.
