Rockwell Collins (NYSE: COL) has won a potential $142.4 million contract from the U.S. Navy to help the service branch update an airborne training platform called Tactical Combat Training System.
The Defense Departmentsaid Tuesday the company will provide TCTS Increment II participant and ground subsystems, remote range units, platform interfaces, an internal rack-mounted subsystem for fixed-wing and rotary aircraft, peculiar support equipment and an internal subsystem for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.
Work will occur in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Fort Walton Beach, Florida; Richardson, Texas; and other locations in the continental U.S. through November 2022.
The Naval Air Warfare Center’s training systems division received two proposals for the contract and will obligate $8.3 million at the time of award from the Navy’s fiscal 2017 research, development, testing and evaluation funds.
TCTS is designed to track aircraft during training exercises and collect time, space, position and weapon employment data from exercise participants.
