Robin Carnahan Confirmed as GSA Administrator

Robin Carnahan, who served as director of the state and local government practice at the General Services Administration’s 18F digital service organization from 2016 to 2020, has been confirmed by the Senate to lead the agency.

She helped establish 18F and worked with federal agencies to update the public service delivery process as part of digital modernization efforts, GSA said Wednesday.

The Senate approved Carnahan to be GSA’s next administrator more than two months after President Biden nominated her to the position.

Between 2005 and 2013, she was the Missouri state secretary with responsibility over election activities, securities regulation and customer services.

Carnahan has served as a fellow at Georgetown University’s Beeck Center for Social Impact & Innovation since March 2020 and is the co-founder of the center’s State Software Collaborative effort.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from William Jewell College and juris doctorate from the University of Virginia School of Law.
