President Joe Biden’s budget request for fiscal year 2024 includes $74.4 billion for federal civilian information technology programs, nearly $11 billion of which will be allocated to the Department of Veterans Affairs, according to a report from Deltek’s GovWin federal market analysis team.
The report, published Monday, provides initial insights into government contracting opportunities with military and civilian agencies for the next fiscal year.
Based on data provided by the Office of Management and Budget, $10.9 billion of civilian IT budget will go to VA, and $10 billion to the Department of Health and Human Services. The Department of Homeland Security is expected to receive $9 billion for IT initiatives, while the Department of the Treasury will get $7 billion.
The proposed budget includes at least $4 billion each for civilian IT efforts at the Departments of Justice, Transportation and Agriculture. The Biden administration earmarked $3 billion for the Department of State, and $2 billion each for the Department of Commerce, Social Security Administration, and NASA.
Deltek analysts plan to publish additional articles soon to discuss factors that could impact the federal IT contracting market in 2024.
