AE Industrial Partners-backed Redwire has acquired Made In Space, which focuses on manufacturing on-orbit systems, for an undisclosed sum as part of technology portfolio expansion push.
The transaction also includes MIS’ European subsidiary that develops robotic arm platforms for the aerospace sector, Redwire said Tuesday.
MIS performs additive manufacturing, zero-gravity materials production and other services related to in-space construction and assembly. It has worked with NASA on robotic technology demonstration efforts such as the Archinaut program.
AEI formed Redwire earlier this month after the investment firm’s acquisition of Adcole Maryland Aerospace and Deep Space Systems to offer a portfolio of flight hardware, space sensors, payloads and spacecraft platforms.
PwC and Kirkland & Ellis served as Redwire’s financial and legal advisers, respectively, while Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher acted as legal adviser to MIS.
