Raytheon to Produce Griffin Missiles for SOCOM Under Potential $315M IDIQ

Raytheon‘s (NYSE: RTN) missile systems business has landed a potential $315 million contract to provide Griffin missiles to the U.S. Special Operations Command along with product upgrade, operations and sustainment services.

SOCOM will use fiscal 2018 research, development, testing and evaluation funds to cover the contract’s minimum value and obligate additional funds with each delivery or task order, the Defense Department said Friday.

Work will take place at various contractor facilities located in Tucson, Ariz.

The command awarded the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract using a sole-sole acquisition method.

Griffin is a multiplatform weapon system equipped with a GPS-aided inertial guidance technology and a semi-active laser seeker built to identify the exact position of targets.
