Raytheon‘s (NYSE: RTN) space and airborne systems business has received a potential five-year, $98.6M contract to fix 25 weapon repairable assemblies for AN/APG-79 active electronically scanned array radars used on the U.S. Navy’s F/A-18 aircraft fleet.
Work under the sole-source contract, which has a $57.9M initial value, is initially scheduled to conclude in March 2022 and may extend through March 2024 if all options are exercised, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.
The company will perform repair work in Forest, Miss., receive funds from the Navy upon issuance of individual orders.
AN/APG-79 is equipped with an active electronic beam scanning technology and designed to help pilots obtain situational awareness when they perform air-to-air and as air-to-surface combat missions.
