Raytheon Secures $419M Contract Option for Lot 19 Sidewinder Multimission Missiles

Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) has received a $419M contract modification to produce AIM-9X Sidewinder all up rounds for the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force as well as 24 countries under the foreign military sales program.

The modification exercises an option under a previously awarded fixed-price-incentive-firm contract and covers lot 19 production of Block II and II+ tactical, captive and special air training and captive test missiles, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.

The exercised option will also fund the procurement of advanced optical target detectors, live and inert batteries, propulsion steering sections and materials needed to conduct repair, depot maintenance and refurbishment efforts.

FMS customers are Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Morocco, Oman, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.

AIM-9X is designed for air-to-air, air-to-surface or surface-to-air applications. The infrared-tracking missile technology can integrate with the F-15, F-16, F/A-18, E/A-18G, F-22 and F-35 aircraft platforms.
