Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) has received a $419M contract modification to produce AIM-9XSidewinder all up rounds for the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force as well as 24 countries under the foreign military sales program.
The exercised option will also fund the procurement of advanced optical target detectors, live and inert batteries, propulsion steering sections and materials needed to conduct repair, depot maintenance and refurbishment efforts.
FMS customers are Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Morocco, Oman, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
AIM-9X is designed for air-to-air, air-to-surface or surface-to-air applications. The infrared-tracking missile technology can integrate with the F-15, F-16, F/A-18, E/A-18G, F-22 and F-35 aircraft platforms.
