Raytheon (NYSE: RTN)Â has received a potential one-year, $110.1 million contract modification to begin fiscal 2017 low-rate initial production of S-band radars and radar suite controllers for the U.S. Navy.
The modification seeks to exercise an option in a contract awarded in 2013 in support of the service branch’s Air and Missile Defense Radar Program, the Defense Departmentsaid Tuesday.
The AMDR system works to help the Navy’s DDG-51 Flight III destroyer detect aerial, surface and ballistic missile threats and is composed of S-band, X-band radars and a radar suite controller.
Raytheon will perform work in Massachusetts through December 2017.
The Naval Sea Systems Command will obligate the full contract amount from fiscal 2017 shipbuilding and conversion funds at the time of award, according to DoD.
