Pratt & Whitney Awarded $770M Navy F-135 Engine Spares Contract Modification

Raytheon Technologies’ (NYSE: RTX) Pratt & Whitney subsidiary will provide military services, non-Department of Defense organizations and foreign military customers with spare parts for the F-135 aircraft propulsion system under a potential $769.9 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy.

DOD said Friday the vendor will also supply modules, packaging and shipping assistance, transportation materials, support equipment and depot lay-in material to meet the customers’ propulsion system requirements.

In September 2020, Pratt & Whitney booked an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to deliver F-135 system spare parts and related components to the service branches, FMS customers and non-DOD participants. The modification raises the ceiling value of the previously awarded sole-source IDIQ contract.

F-135 is designed to support all three variants of the Lockheed Martin-built (NYSE: LMT) F-35 Lightning II fighter jet. The engine has over 40,000 pounds of thrust, thermal management, low-observable signature and an integrated engine control system.

Work will occur in Connecticut, Maine, Indiana, Florida, Illinois, Arizona, Puerto Rico and the U.K., through December 2025.

Naval Air Systems Command will obligate funds upon issuance of individual orders.
