The government of Poland has selected Boeing (NYSE: BA) to supply its AH-64E Apache aircraft for the Polish armed forces’ Kruk attack helicopter program.
Boeing issued a statement Thursday saying the selection of its aircraft strengthens military ties between the U.S. and Poland by improving cooperation and interoperability between the U.S. Army, Poland and other NATO countries.
The aerospace and defense contractor added that its partnership with the Polish armaments group will continue to expand as it carries out sustainment and training activities with local industry.
Breaking Defense reported that Poland was expected to buy 32 attack helicopters for two squadrons, but Mariusz Blaszczak, the country’s deputy prime minister and national defense chief, announced Thursday that the government chose Boeing to supply 96 Apaches for use by about six squadrons.
