OSI Subsidiary Awarded Potential $140M CBP Screening Tech Contract Pair

An OSI Systems subsidiary has received a pair of contracts worth up to $140 million combined from the Customs and Border Protection agency for the supply of cargo and vehicle screening systems.

OSI said Monday one potential two year, $64 million contract for American Science and Engineering covers deliveries of its Z Portal drive-through cargo and vehicle inspection system that works to provide up to six views of a vehicle under inspection.

The company will also provide its ZBV screening system as well as associated service, maintenance and training support under a separate contract with a potential value of $76 million over five years, according to a release published Tuesday.

ZBV is designed to inspect explosives, drugs, currency, alcohol, cigarettes and organic threats or contraband.

AS&E received the first delivery orders through the Z Portal and ZBV contracts valued at approximately $35 million and $10 million, respectively.

CBP expects to deploy Z Portal systems for homeland security purposes at multiple border locations while ZBV will be fielded at security checkpoints, OSI said.

OSI designs and manufactures electronic systems and components for homeland security, healthcare, defense and aerospace industries.
