Orbital ATK (NYSE: OA) has received a potential $156.8 million contract from the U.S. Navy to modify tactical missiles designed to engage enemy air defenses and mobile targets.
The Defense Departmentsaid Thursday Orbital ATK will convert AGM-88B high-speed, anti-radiation missiles into 230 AGM-88EAdvanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missiles all-up-rounds and six captive air training missiles.
The company will also provide supplies and services necessary for lot 6 full-rate production, sparing and fleet deployment of AARGMs.
Work will occur in Northridge and Ridgecrest in California through March 2019.
The Naval Air Systems Command is the contracting activity and the service branch will obligate the full contract amount from its fiscal 2017 weapons procurement and fiscal 2015 non-DoD funds.
AARGM is equipped with anti-radiation homing sensor, millimeter wave radar terminal seeker, weapon impact assessment transmit, network connectivity and global positioning and inertial navigation systems.
