NSA Vet Phil Quade Named Fortinet Chief Information Security Officer; Ken Xie Comments

Phil Quade, former special assistant for cyber of the National Security Agency director, has joined Fortinet (Nasdaq: FTNT) as chief information security officer and strategic consultant to C-level enterprise clients.

Fortinet said Tuesday Quade will oversee the company’s information security, compliance with global regulations and standards as well as efforts to expand the federal and critical infrastructure business.

“With Phil™s extensive background working at the [NSA] and with the Defense Department, he brings incredible insight on the technologies, threat landscape and partnerships needed to deliver the most effective approaches to data security, ” said Ken Xie, Fortinet founder, chairman and CEO.

Quade will bring more than 30 years of experience in cybersecurity and networking across the government, critical infrastructure, industry and international sectors from his work at NSA, the Office of the Director for National Intelligence and the U.S. Senate.

He has served as chief of the cyber task force and chief operating officer of the information assurance directorate at NSA and head of the Information Operations Technology Center™s advanced technology group.
