Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has received a $252 million follow-on contract to produce a man-portable system for U.S. Marine Corps personnel to recognize and locate targets.
The company will provide low-rate initial and full-rate production services to USMC’s Next Generation Handheld Targeting System program, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
Under the eight-year contract, Northrop will also perform test, engineering, logistics, documentation and spare parts delivery work.
The award is a follow-on to an other transaction authority agreement USMC announced in September 2018.
USMC created the NGHTS program in a move to replace the branch’s legacy Portable Lightweight Designator Rangefinder, Joint Terminal Attack Controller, Laser Target Designator and Thermal Laser Spot Imager systems.
Northrop will perform contract work in Apopka, Florida, and the Marine Corps Systems Command will obligate funds with each task order.
