Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has secured a potential $1.16B follow-on contract to manufacture updated electronic warfare systems the U.S. Navy will use to defend surface combatant vessels against anti-ship missile threats.
The award contains a base value of $100.7M and covers the production of AN/SLQ-32(V)7 Block 3 systems for the branch’s Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program, Northrop said Friday.
The company applied an open architecture to support the modernized technology’s integration with other combat systems and the distributed maritime operations framework.
The Navy Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems manages the SEWIP Block 3 program, which received Milestone C approval in January 2019 to enter the manufacturing and deployment phase.
Northrop will help the branch initially deploy its new EW technology to Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers.
