Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has received a potential two-year, $103.4 million contract modification to begin low-rate initial production of the U.S. Navy™s Joint Counter Radio-Controlled Improvised Explosive Device Electronic Warfare Increment One Build One system.
Northrop will produce the JCREW I1B1 systems for the service branch™s expeditionary warfare program office under the cost-plus-fixed-fee, firm-fixed-price contract, the Defense Departmentsaid Tuesday.
The JCREW system, which received clearance for operational testing in April 2015, is an open-architecture platform designed to protect warfighters from radio-controlled IEDs.
The Naval Sea Systems Command oversees JCREW as a joint program in support of the requirements of the Navy and the Air Force, according to DoD.
The company will perform work in California, Oregon, Minnesota and Arizona through Sept. 28, 2018.
DoD said the command will obligate the full contract amount from the Navy™s œother procurement funds for fiscal 2014 and 2015 and the Air Force™s fiscal 2015 and 2016 procurement funds at the time of award.
