Phillip Ritter, a wireless data network expert, has joined Nokia’s federal team, GovCon Wire has learned.
He will oversee the federal division’s research and development efforts and serve as a subject matter expert on matters related to mobile core and transport platforms.
Ritters has over 30 years of experience leading the design and deployment of wireless data networks starting with the Advanced Mobile Phone System and other analog cellular platforms through digital cellular systems.
He has advanced cloud and virtualization for telecommunications systems and led the fielding of the data core for 4G-LTE at Verizon (NYSE: VZ) based on the 3rd Generation Partnership Project or 3GPP, an umbrella term for a number of organizations that create protocols for mobile telecommunications.
“Nokia has been a leading partner on every wireless project I’ve been involved with,” Ritter said. “I’m excited to have joined Nokia and help bring innovation to our clients in the Federal space.”
Ritter spent nearly two decades at Verizon, where he served as director of software-defined network and network function virtualization architecture planning and head of LTE core network planning, among other leadership roles. He previously worked at AirTouch as manager of network technology program.
