Mitre has received a one-year, $451.3M contract from the U.S. Air Force to administer a federally funded research and development center that focuses on engineering systems designed to help advance the government’s national security goals.
The nonprofit company will continue to support the military service as the National Security Engineering Center administrator under the cost reimbursement option contract, the Department of Defense said Monday.
The sole-sourced award comes one year after Mitre secured a $406.8M contract for the administration of NSEC FFRDC, which explores technology in the cybersecurity, electronics and sensing areas.
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center is the contracting activity and will obligate $327,003 in foreign military sales funds at the time of award.
Contract work will take place in Bedford, Mass., McLean, Va., and other international locations through Sept. 30, 2020.
