Wen Masters, previously deputy director for research at Georgia Tech Research Institute, has been appointed as Mitre‘s vice president for cyber technologies, effective May 17.
She will oversee Mitre’s cybersecurity strategy across a portfolio of programs including those that tackle national security and economics, the organization said Tuesday.
Masters’ responsibilities as VP include leading cybersecurity innovation centers, overseeing 600 professionals and supporting the development of cyber capabilities for securing American intellectual property and securing critical infrastructure.
She brings experience in serving as director of the Information and Cyber Sciences Directorate at GTRI and in helping NASA determine orbits for deep space missions during her time with the agency’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
The former government scientist also served with the Office of Naval Research as a Senior Executive Service member, spearheading science and technology projects for the U.S. Navy.
“Cybersecurity is one of Mitre’s most important, differentiated capabilities and touches on our work across customers, partners and independent research,” said Charles Clancy, senior vice president and general manager of Mitre Labs.
