Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) has agreed to buy cyber threat analysis and research company Miburo for an undisclosed sum as the technology giant aims to help public and private sector organizations respond to foreign information operations.
Tom Burt, corporate vice president of Microsoft’s customer security and trust organization, wrote in a blog entry posted Tuesday Miburo researchers are focused on uncovering actors that carry out influence campaigns online.
Burt added the deal will bring in new analysts who can augment threat intelligence and context analysis efforts at Microsoft.
Miburo founder Clint Watts will join the customer security and trust group upon completion of the acquisition.
