Jim McAleese – GovCon Expert
Jim McAleese, founder of McAleese & Associates and a 2019 Wash100 awardee, highlighted in a report some of the key takeaways from the remarks of Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House coronavirus response coordinator, at a White House press briefing Tuesday.
Birx said the New York-New Jersey metro area “dwarfs” all other metro areas, including Chicago, Boston, Detroit, New Orleans and Philadelphia. She said the NYC/NJ metro area has about 250K COVID-19 cases, compared with other metro areas with about 20K confirmed cases each.
She noted at the briefing that infection curves are starting to flatten or decrease in some of the major metropolitan areas.
Other topics discussed at the event are the call to activate Roche Amplicor 500 and Abbott M2000 high-throughput machines to double the amount of testing for the virus as well as plans to increase the production of cartridges.
