McAleese & Associates: DoD Gets $738B in FY 2020 Topline Under Two-Year Budget Deal

A new McAleese & Associates report says a two-year budget deal will provide the Department of Defense with a topline budget of $738B for fiscal year 2020, reflecting a 3 percent growth from FY 2019 spending levels.

Jim McAleese, founder and principal at McAleese & Associates and a 2019 Wash100 winner, wrote that the topline DoD budget for FY 2020 includes $667B in base funds and $72B in overseas contingency operations funds.

The Pentagon™s FY 2021 topline spending stands at approximately $741B, with the base budget accounting for $672B of the topline.

Domestic programs see a 4 percent growth in the topline budget at $632B for FY 2020, according to the report.

The White House and Congress struck a deal Monday that would increase federal spending over two years and suspend the debt limit until the end of July 2021.
