The U.S. Marine Corps has awarded AeroVironment (Nasdaq: AVAV), Anduril Industries and Teledyne FLIR positions on a potential eight-year, $249 million contract to build, test, support and deliver a non-developmental item loitering munition system designed to provide dismounted Marines in the infantry rifle squad with precision strike capability against adversaries beyond the line of sight.
The Organic Precision Fires-Light system should be man-packable and consist of the loitering munition, related ground control station, training simulator and ancillary equipment needed to support the technology, according to the statement of work.
The vendors will also provide program management, quality assurance, systems engineering and logistics support to ensure that delivery schedules and performance requirements related to the OPF-L system are met under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.
The command issued a solicitation for the OPF-L program in September.
The IDIQ contract has a five-year base term and a three-year option period.
