Manson Construction has won a potential $89.4M contract to help the U.S. Navy extend a service pier for Seawolf-class nuclear-powered attack submarines.
The company will build a single-level submarine berthing platform that is 520 feet long and 68 feet wide at Naval Base Kitsap Bangor in Silverdale, Wash., the Department of Defense said Monday.
The pier extension project includes two 580-square-foot concrete floating camels, pier-side utilities, small craft berthing modifications, low-rise compressor building and communications equipment.
The low-rise compressor building is intended to house air compressors for tools and breathing and support accommodation of sewage equipment, a new emergency generator, storm drainage and other equipment.
Naval Facilities Engineering Command received five offers for the design-bid-build contract with four options.
DoD expects Manson to complete the project in July 2022.
