Magellan Federal to Continue Support for DOD's Military Counseling Program Under Potential $2B Contract; Oscar Montes Quoted

A Magellan Health subsidiary has been awarded a potential seven-year, $2 billion contract to help the Department of Defense administer counseling services to military personnel and their families.

Magellan Federal will deploy more than 1,200 qualified counselors to military installations located within the eastern half of the U.S., Africa and Europe to support the DOD’s Military and Family Life Counseling program, the company said Thursday.

The General Services Administration’s Federal Systems Integration and Management Center issued the award with a 12-month base period, four 12-month options and a pair of 12-month incentive periods.

Work under the contract will include nonmedical counseling for active-duty, reserve and National Guard personnel as well as their family members on matters such as relocation adjustment, deployment stress, separation and grief.

Magellan Federal said it has provided MFLC support services since 2012.
