The Department of the War said Monday Naval Sea Systems Command launched a competitive procurement process and received two offers for the cost-plus-award-fee contract, which has a base value of approximately $60.6 million.
What Is the Scope of the Navy Contract?
Under the contract, Lockheed’s rotary and mission systems business will perform work in New Jersey, Virginia, Maine, Mississippi, California and other international locations, including Romania and Poland.
The base contract is expected to be completed by June 2027. If all options are exercised, the company will continue to perform work through June 2036.
What Is the Aegis System?
Aegis is the Navy’s surface combat system that integrates a range of sensors and weapons to provide warfighters with an integrated air and missile defense capability.
The system features a computer-based command-and-decision component and the AN/SPY radar designed to detect and track targets and perform missile guidance functions.
What Other Aegis Awards Has Lockheed Received?
In May, Lockheed secured a $407.2 million contract modification from the Missile Defense Agency to continue engineering, development and certification work supporting the Aegis Guam missile defense system.
In July 2025, the company received three contracts worth a combined $3.1 billion from MDA and the Navy to continue supporting the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense weapon system.
