Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has received a potential $92.8M contract modification from the U.S. Navy to provide engineering and interim logistics support for a global military satellite communications system.
The company will also provide Mobile User Objective System spares and associated materials, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.
Work is scheduled to conclude in October 2020 and the military service will incrementally obligate funds from fiscal 2019 and fiscal 2020 for the modification.
Ninety percent of work will occur in Scottsdale, Ariz., and the remaining 10 percent will take place in Sunnyvale, Calif.
MUOS is designed to secure ultra-high frequency satcom activities for mobile force. The system employs radio terminals built to link up with the Global Information Grid and support mobile and tactical operations on the ground, at sea or in the air.
