The U.S. Navy has awarded Lockheed Martin‘s (NYSE: LMT) aeronautics segment a $584.8 million contract modification to fund system integration engineering activities related to new F-35 electronic warfare and countermeasure equipment.
The award will support development work on the ASQ-239 electronic warfare suite for U.S. military customers and non-Department of Defense participants in the fighter aircraft program, DOD said Friday.
Naval Air Systems Command will obligate $82.8 million on the award from USAF, Department of the Navy, and non-DOD participant funds.
BAE Systems designed the ASQ-239 technology to help F-35 operators reach a target and suppress adversarial radars.
Lockheed asked BAE in August to carry out countermeasure equipment sustainment services under a $93 million undefinitized contract action.
