Lockheed Awarded $154M US, UK Trident II System Shipboard Integration Contract

Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT) has received a three-year, $154.4 million U.S, Navy contract to to support Increment 8 of the Trident II Strategic Weapon System Shipboard Integration effort for two classes of future U.S. and U.K. ballistic missile submarines.

The Defense Department said Wednesday Lockheed’s rotary and mission systems business will design, test and install navigation hardware and software into the Columbia-class and Dreadnought-class submarines.

Work also covers modification and repair of inertial navigation system and gyro modification and repair, as well as development of Columbia navigation subsystem.

DoD noted the contract also provides funds for the contractor to develop U.S. and U.K. trainers, procure long lead materials for transducers of current Ohio-class and Vanguard-class submarines, establish a portable data collection system and modernize long-range software platforms.

Work will occur in New York, California, Florida and Massachusetts through Dec. 31, 2020.

U.S. and U.K. navies will obligate funds worth a combined $24 million at the time of award.
