Roger Krone, chairman and CEO of Leidos, talked about the Reston, Virginia-based government information technology services contractors merger with Lockheed Martins information systems and global services business at the Titans breakfast event held Friday in Tysons Corner, Virginia.
He discussed at the Northern Virginia Technology Council-hosted event how the transaction has helped Leidos to diversify its portfolio, build up its market presence and expand its capabilities and investments in cloud computing and enterprise IT modernization, NVTC said Friday.
Krone, an inductee into Executive Mosaics Wash100 for 2017, also tackled the potential role of unmanned vessels and systems in aviation security as well as sensors in cyber threat detection.
He mentioned Leidos plan to add approximately 6,000 new employees to the companys workforce across IT, data analytics, cybersecurity and engineering areas.
Krone also cited how client focus and executives engagement helped Leidos structured the new combined entity during a question-and-answer session with event attendees.
His statement coincided with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s award of a potential five-year, $988 million contract to Leidos for IT management support services.
