Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) will continue to help the U.S. Army operate and maintain the Saturn Arch aerial platform for neutralizing improvised explosive devices under a potential $306M follow-on contract.
The company said Monday it will equip the DHC-8 aircraft with new intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems designed to increase aircrew survivability and facilitate beyond-line-of-sight operations.
According to Leidos, the project also covers technical upgrades such as installing avionics and communications technology suites.
Work will take place at Virginia's Bridgewater Airport and various locations outside the contiguous U.S.
The contract has a base period of one year, a pair of one-year option periods and an additional six-month extension.
The Army introduced its Saturn Arch program in 2010 to deploy a specialized ISR aircraft that could track and dispose of IEDs in Afghanistan.
