Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) has received a $71.1 million contract modification to help the U.S. Army integrate,  sustain and operate the military branch’s Saturn Arch neutralizer platform for improvised explosive devices.
The Army obligated $45.6 million in fiscal 2016 “other” procurement and operations and maintenance funds at the time of award of the modification, the Defense Departmentsaid Wednesday.
The service branch initially awarded Leidos a one-year, $72 million contract in September last year to support the Saturn Arch IED-neutralizing system.
Leidos will perform work under the modification in Bridgewater, Virginia and in Afghanistan through Sept. 16, 2019.
Saturn Arch is an aerial platform equipped with sensor technology that works to help U.S. and international security assistance forces identify and remove IEDs in the battlefield, according to the Army.
