L3Harris Receives $82M SOCOM Order for Falcon IV Manpack Radios; Dana Mehnert Quoted

L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has received an $82M order to manufacture Falcon IV AN/PRC-167 radios for the U.S. Special Operations Command's Next Generation Tactical Communications program.

The full-rate production order falls under a potential $255M indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to replace legacy manpack radios of the unified combatant command, L3Harris said Monday.

SOCOM awarded the IDIQ to Harris Corp., which merged with L3 Technologies in July of last year.

“The AN/PRC-167 provides situational understanding between the tactical edge and command elements," said Dana Mehnert, president of L3Harris' communication systems division.

The updated Falcon radio technology includes multiple communication features such as situational awareness; crossbanding; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; and voice, video and data transmissions.

L3Harris engineered the software-based device to operate in vehicular, airborne or dismounted missions and to support mobile ad hoc networking waveforms.
