Jim Chilton, vice president of strategic missiles and defense systems at Boeing (NYSE: BA), has been promoted to president of the aerospace and defense contractor’s network and space systems business in a move that takes effect Oct. 21.
Boeing said Thursday the 32-year company veteran will succeed Craig Cooning, who has led N&SS since July 2014 and will retire after an 11-year career with the Chicago-based airplane maker.
N&SS generates nearly $7.8 billion in annual revenue, or approximately one-fourth of the company’s $30.9 billion total defense segment sales.
Boeing has also formed a strategic defense and intelligence systems unit within the N&SS business in a move to consolidate the strategic missiles and defense systems and electronic and information solutions businesses.
Chris Raymond, current VP and general manager of E&IS, will lead the new SD&IS organization.
SD&IS will offer a portfolio of undersea mission, intelligence, signals intelligence, analytics, advanced missile, sensor and missile defense systems for space, air, land, sea, undersea and cyber applications.
