An Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) legal complaint unsealed in court Monday claims that President Donald Trump influenced the outcome of the Department of Defense’s multibillion-dollar cloud services procurement initiative, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.
The U.S. Court of Federal Claims unveiled a redacted version of suit that was originally filed by Jeff Bezos’ company under seal on Nov. 22 to protest DoD’s selection of Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) over Amazon Web Services for the $10B Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure contract.
Court documents indicate that presidential pressure forced DoD to take numerous measures that put AWS in a disadvantageous position as the department evaluated bid proposals.
Politico reported Amazon also argues an advisory council for JEDI source selection efforts did not take account of previous reviews that determined its cloud technology offering was “extraordinary.”
Elissa Smith, a Pentagon spokesperson, said DoD civilian and military professionals conducted the evaluation process in accordance with the department’s normal practices.
