Jay Schnitzer Named VP, CTO at Mitre; Alfred Grasso Comments

Jay Schnitzer, formerly director of biomedical sciences at Mitre, has been appointed vice president and chief technology officer at the nonprofit technology and research organization.

“[Schnitzer™s] technical and life sciences expertise offers an invaluable perspective as we look for new and innovative ways to solve complex challenges, particularly in the international and healthcare domains, ” Mitre CEO Alfred Grasso said in a statement issued Monday.

Schnitzer led the establishment of the Blue Ribbon Panel and oversaw writing and editing work on the report titled “Independent Assessment of the Health Care Delivery Systems and Management Processes of the Department of Veterans Affairs” during his time as Mitre’s director of biomedical sciences.

Prior to Mitre, he worked at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency as director of the defense sciences office.

He previously served as a senior vice president and chief medical officer at Boston Scientific Corp. and as a pediatric surgeon at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Schnitzer also served on the faculty at Harvard Medical School.
